The rules for a race are a combination of the race speed, the number of item slots, and the number of teams. These rules rotate daily.

・The active rules are listed in "Today's Rules" on the Standard Races button on the multiplayer screen.
・The rules change daily at 6:00 AM UTC (11:00 PM PDT/10:00 PM PST).
・Players may not change the rules.
・Courses from the cups available in the current tour are chosen.
